We are off to an excellent start for the 2019/2020 school year. Many students are excited about some of the new course offerings with Geometry and Construction, Algebra I Concepts, and the new rotation for middle school electives.

New Staff

Additions to the staff include a Dean of Students (Mrs. Thomas), Academic Counselor (Mrs. VanKoningsveld - Mrs. VK), Behavior Counselor (Mrs. Marsh), Middle School English Teacher (Ms. Dietz), College and Career Navigator (Mrs. Cordes).

Mrs. Thomas will focus her efforts on positive behavior interventions and being proactive on correcting behaviors before they happen.

Mrs. VanKoningsveld will be working with all students to help create plans and ensure students are taking the correct classes.

Mrs. Marsh will be providing support to students that are struggling socially or emotionally and help build skills either one on one or in small groups.

Mrs. Cordes will be coordinating with colleges, various trades, and other workplaces to get students the opportunity to explore their futures.

From the new staff, we have created a School Success Team (SST) along with School Success  (Ms. Sexton). This group has worked on referrals from staff to help students that need academic or behavioral support. In a short time this year, we have worked with about 20 students to help them be more successful in classes.

Results were sent home with students last week for the high school and the middle school this week. The state has created a parent-friendly starting smarter website to provide parents with information on what the scores mean.
