The start of the 2020-2021 school year brought some unique challenges and new procedures here at Alcona Elementary, but the first few weeks went very smooth! Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we began this non-traditional year. Some unforeseen challenges were presented and worked through, and we appreciate your input and support as we navigate through them. It is great to see the students back in the building and have a sense of enthusiasm and excitement back this fall!
We will be utilizing a couple different platforms that teachers will be communicating with families. Our Kindergarten and 1st grade classes will be using SeeSaw for many aspects of their classrooms and our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes will be using the Brightspace platform. In addition, teachers will email, send newsletters and also use their Google Voice numbers to call or text. School and district-wide communications will be sent via Thrillshare, our school all-call system. A test call was made last week to ensure families have an updated number and email to be reached at. If there are any questions or communications are not coming through, please call 989-736-8146 and we can help.
The Positivity Project
We kicked off The Positivity Project last week learning about why Other People Matter and now we will look deeper at specific character traits. Visit https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ for more information.
