Alcona Elementary Update

Alcona Elementary Update: January/February 2021

Winter Assessments/End of Semester

Over the next 2 weeks our winter assessments will be taking place here at Alcona Elementary, wrapping up at the end of the semester, January 29.  Encourage your child to put forth their best effort during these, as it helps to determine how much they have grown over the last few months and provides guidance on instruction for kids.

Our semester will be ending on Friday, January 29th; this will be a 1/2 day for students, with dismissal at 12:08p.

Health and Safety Protocols

As we keep rolling with 2021, we still have health and safety protocols in place for everyone in the building.  Students and staff are required to wear masks all day, except when eating, we are encouraging social distancing as often as possible and have class cohorts together throughout the day.  In addition, classes often wash hands and sanitize their supplies throughout the day.

The Positivity Project

The Positivity Project has been going very well!  Each week classes discuss different character traits and learn more about each one.  Visit https://posproject.org/ for more information.  A great support this program provides is resources for families.  If you go to: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/, you can select your child’s grade level for resources that can be used at home.  The password is: P2.

Alcona PTO

Our Alcona PTO group has been very busy and creative in thinking about ways to support our staff, kids, and families.  New faces and ideas are always welcome!  Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 27 at 6:00p, by using the link to virtually connect: https://meet.google.com/twq-vhrb-iqr
