Elementary Front

March 2022

We are in the second week of our ‘Celebration of Books’ here at Alcona Elementary!  There are weekly challenges and activities so our kids can Go for the Gold in Reading!  Calendars were sent home at the end of February, but if you need another one, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

With snow and cold weather still here, it is important for kids to have coats, snowpants, gloves, hats, and boots to make sure they stay warm and dry when playing outside!  Playing in the snow and sledding is a lot of fun, but having wet clothes the rest of the day isn’t!

It is important to keep reading each night!  Only 20 minutes a day makes a big impact for kids and is a great way to spend time together as a family.  Whether it is “Bat and the Waiting Game” or another book, reading can take you on an adventure!

The Positivity Project

For March, the character traits of focus are: Enthusiasm, Social Intelligence, Love of Learning and Humor.  Staff and students look at each of these and learn more about them. There are great resources for continuing this conversation at home as well.  Visit: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ for family information.  Select the appropriate character trait and grade level.  The password for access is: P2.

Alcona PTO

The Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser was a huge success, thank you to all you bought pizza kits!  The delivery is set for the week of March 14th, the exact day and time will be communicated when it is finalized. We are always looking for new faces and ideas!

Tiger Clinic

The Tiger Clinic is open throughout the day, but appointments are needed.  Call 989-736-9837 to schedule.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns at 989-736-8146 or email leet@alconaschools.net.
