Alcona Middle/High School Families, 

As we approach the end of the summer, here is some important information with you about the upcoming 2023/24 school year. (Please note that a digital version with links will be shared via social media and email.)

Important Information: A mailing will go out this week that will include important information including student schedules, 23/24 Emergency Cards, Household Information Forms, 22/23 NWEA reports, and a copy of this letter. Please look for this information soon! 

Schedules: All student schedules are viewable through StudentVUE or ParentVUE. If you are unable to access your account, please call the office (989-736-8534) or email Ms. Dewar (dewara@alconaschools.net). Printed copies will also be available at Open House. If students would like to request a schedule change, please have them complete the Schedule Change Request Form. A link to the form has been sent to all student email addresses. Ms. VK will be available for drop in schedule changes on August 15,16, and 17 from 8-12 and 1-3.

Open House: Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23th from 5pm to 6pm. Students and families can come into the school, meet their teachers, and pick up their schedules. Families can also turn in and/or complete any forms at this time.

Chromebook Pick Up/Fees: Students entering 7th grade and new students can pick up their Chromebooks from 2-6pm on Wednesday, August 23. Families have the option to pay a $20 technology materials fee that will cover repair of the first accidental damage of the current year. The technology materials fee must be paid before September 15, 2023.

Student Day: The first day of school for students is Monday, August 28th. The daily schedule for students is 8:15am-3:10pm. Daily schedules are available in the 23/24 Bell Schedule document. Students will not be allowed into the building until 7:55am. Please plan accordingly so that students do not have to wait outside for an extended period of time. Families will be contacted by their bus driver during the week before students return. If you do not hear from your driver, please contact the bus garage at (989) 736-6211.  

Breakfast/Lunch: Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students again this year. Snacks and drinks will be available to purchase at the end of lunch and after school in the à la carte line. To ensure that we are able to continue to participate in the free meal program, please complete and return the Household Information Report included in this mailing.

Student Handbook: The 23/24 Student and Family Handbook is available. If you would like a printed copy, please contact the office.

Student Parking Passes: All students that will be parking at the school will need to obtain a parking pass. There is no cost for the passes. Students can pick up a Parking Pass Form from the main office.

Behavioral Health: Alcona MS/HS continues to offer counseling services to students during the school day. These services can help students struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, or other concerns. If you are interested in learning more or signing up for services, please complete the Behavioral Health Referral Form or call the office.
