Alcona’s Makayla Prince Competes at MHSAA Girls Bowling State Finals
MUSKEGON, Mich. – Alcona High School junior Makayla Prince showcased her dedication and skill at the MHSAA Division 4 Girls Bowling Singles State Finals on March 1 at Northway Lanes in Muskegon. Prince earned her spot at the competition after an impressive performance at regionals, where she placed 5th in the singles qualifiers. Alcona High School had the honor of hosting the regional competition for the first time.
Competing among the state’s best bowlers, Prince rolled a combined six-game score of 810, demonstrating perseverance and determination throughout the event. This marks her third year in bowling, and her commitment to the sport continues to pay off. She is only the second student from Alcona to qualify for the state bowling competition, making her achievement even more remarkable.
“It was such an amazing experience to compete at states,” said Prince. “I’ve worked really hard over the years, and it felt great to represent Alcona on such a big stage.”
Prince’s journey to the state finals has been fueled by her dedication and the support of her coaches. Reflecting on her performance, Alcona bowling coaches Tina Stern and Danielle Munsey praised her growth and perseverance.
Athletic Director Joy Bullis also expressed admiration for Prince’s efforts and the school’s growing presence in competitive bowling.
“To have Makayla represent Alcona at the state level is a testament to her hard work and the strength of our bowling program,” said Bullis. “Her performance is something to celebrate, and we’re excited to see what her and the rest of the team accomplishes next.”
With a personal-best game of 200, Prince continues to strive for excellence. Her success at the state level is a testament to her passion for the sport and her determination to keep improving. As she heads into her senior year, there’s no doubt that she will continue to make Alcona proud.
