The 2nd graders made the Harrisville DNR Boat launch site a little better for the birds last week. They added bird houses and native berry bushes to improve the habitat for birds and birdwatchers. Over 10 lbs. of marine debris were removed as well! Thanks to the MDNR, Ausable Valley Audubon, MSU Extension, Harrisville Harbor and the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative for making this long term project possible.

Scholar Athlete Awards are given by the North Star League to Juniors and Seniors in 2 Varsity Sports with a Cumulative GPA of 3.5+!

5th grade Students Stewards wrapped up their year long ecosystem restoration project by planting native perennial flowers and shrubs in their school forest study plots. All year they have been learning about ecosystem function, matter and energy flow, decomposition, pollination and invasive species. Thanks to our partners: Huron Pines, Otsego Conservation District, MISTEM and the Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative for helping to make this project a huge success!
