
The kindergarten class went on an exciting trip to Knaebe's Apple Farm last week!




The Alcona Cross Country Team became the North Star League Champions last night. Every athlete put forth their best effort to make this happen. This team is amazing and so fun to coach. Great job boys!


In 2023 we started the Distinguished Alumni Award to recognize an outstanding graduate of Alcona High School that has made a difference in our community, country, and/or world. Our first recipient was Dr. John MacMaster, who serves as an advocate for non-profits, educational initiatives, and more. Nominations for our 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award are now open! Congratulations to Ms. Brandi Schulze and Ms. Joy Bullis for being selected as our Tigers of the Month! Ms. Schulze is a paraprofessional at our elementary school. She always goes the extra mile, is exceptionally compassionate while working with students, and continuously steps up to support fellow team members! Last month we hosted the ribbon cutting for the Alcona C.L.A.W. Academy! C.L.A.W. is an alternative high school pathway that offers unique learning opportunities in a more individualized environment. C.L.A.W. stands for: C-come prepared, L-listen and engage, A-act respectfully, and W-work hard. Thank you to everyone that made this possible! The district will host an informational bond proposal meeting on Monday, October 9th, at 7 p.m. in the middle school lobby. We will also post a virtual link on the district webpage under the calendar events. We plan to host a second on 10/23.

The Alcona Cross Country Boys Team placed second overall today at the Leroy Maxie meet in Fairview, bringing home another plaque. Their next meet is the NSL Finals at home on Tuesday. Boys run at 5:00 pm.


Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team for going undefeated at the Pinconning tournament today! They faced Whittemore, Tawas, Standish, and Pinconning, before playing Ogemaw in the championship game! Way to work, ladies!



Alcona's National Honor Society hosted its first Coffee for Veterans event this school year on Sunday last weekend. Students created and facilitated Halloween-themed activities and prizes. One local veteran was given a Quilt of Valor, several earned recognitions from Tony Atkinson, and Angela Linsenman, a member of the Michigan Veterans Coalition, did a presentation on Veteran Suicide Prevention. Our next Coffee for Veterans Event will be held on Sunday, November 5th from 2 to 4 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Please share with family, friends, and neighbors










Alcona County's Conservation Officer, Jesse Grzechowski, was at Alcona High School today and taught basic wilderness survival skills to Mrs. Hechlik's English in the Real World and English I classes. English in the Real World students are planning an ultimate fall road trip and learned how to prepare. Additionally, English I students are focusing on the guiding question: What does it take to survive? All students learned about a "survival mindset", the "C"s of Survival Gear, and effective campsite considerations.



The Electric Tigers E-sports teams were in action this week with two great matches played. Tiger team 1 earned their first win of the season in a match with the Grandville Bulldogs in three straight sets 3-0. Tiger Team 2 took the loss 1-3 against the Atlanta Huskies. Competing for Alcona were William Brozowski, Warren Leeseberg, Eric Cann, Jayson Lincoln, Wyatt Alderman, and Marcus Prater. The Electric Tigers are back in action each Wednesday after school until mid-November. E-Sports drop-ins for all middle and high schoolers will be held on Tuesdays in October from 3:15 until 5pm in the Esports Arena, Room 210. #AlconaTigers #TigerPride #Esports
