🎓ACS Early College Campaign: Today’s spotlight for our EC campaign is our current 5th year students! One of the common misconceptions about EC is that students don’t get to have the full senior experience. This is not true! EC students walk alongside their class at graduation and participate in all things senior related during 12th grade. The only difference an EC student experiences is they complete their FAFSA, apply for scholarships, are recognized for their academic achievements, and receive their diploma during their 5th year. EC students are further recognized during their 5th year at graduation, where they are awarded their Michigan Early/Middle College Association (MEMCA) Certificate for completing our EC Program, obtaining 15 or more college credits, completing the required number of community service/career exploration hours, and more! Additionally, EC students wear a gold cap and gown at their EC graduation ceremony. Join us March 16th to learn more about our Early College Program! Congratulations to Mr. Lee for being named Administrator of the Year by the Michigan Science Teachers Association! He was officially recognized last Friday at the MSTA conference.
As part of their ecosystem restoration project, 5th grade students studied the importance of the relationship between pollinators and flowering plants in order to choose native species that would be planted back into our school forest. They worked in art class to create 3 D models of a plant that fit certain pollinator criteria.
3rd grade students worked as a team to plant the agriscience hoop house with carrots, lettuce, beets, spinach and radishes for a spring harvest. This great season extender will help us harvest our own fresh food.
Good luck to our Boys Varsity Basketball as they travel to Tawas to play Johannesburg at 6pm for Districts!

Alcona's Film Study class traveled to the Lake Theater in Oscoda today to view their first feature film. They applied their knowledge of film angles, learned some film history, and even toured the projection room. Shout out Jim and Teresa Edelman for partnering with our school!
