Good Morning!
Spring Seasons are rapidly approaching! One thing that warm weather brings along for the ride at Alcona is a need for volunteering, especially within our Track Program.
Our coaches and Athletic Department are hoping to fill the following roles for our home events:
Clerk - Person to help starter line up the runners in the events following the paperwork of lane assignments.
High Jump
Long Jump
Pole Vault (2 would be wonderful)
Shot Put
Discus
Announcer
Data Entry Person
These roles are vital in ensuring that the meets run smoothly! Training in any events would be given prior and are typically not very time or energy demanding.
Please reach out to me at colec@alconaschools.net if you'd like to participate!

As Michigan students return to school for a new year, access to affordable and reliable internet access is vital for their success. The Michigan Department of Education recently shared information about the emergency broadband benefit (EBB) program; which allows eligible households to enroll in an EBB discount of up to $50 per month towards broadband service. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 towards the purchase price. For more information see the MDE memorandum at bit.ly/9-16-21MDE or to apply visit https://getemergencybroadband.org/

🎓ACS Early College Campaign: Today’s spotlight for our Early College campaign is our current 5th year students! One of the common misconceptions about EC is that students don’t get to experience the full senior experience. This is not true! EC students walk alongside their class at graduation and participate in all things senior related during 12th grade. The only difference an EC student experiences is they complete their FAFSA, apply for scholarships, are recognized for their academic achievements, and receive their diploma during their 5th year. EC students are further recognized during their 5th year at graduation, where they are awarded their Michigan Early/Middle College Association (MEMCA) Certificate for completing our EC Program, obtaining 15 or more college credits, completing the required number of community service/career exploration hours, and more! Congratulations to our current 5th year EC students - and our first cohort of EC students! #TigerPride #EarlyCollege
