🔐 What would you say to someone 50 years into the future? The Harrisville Lions Club is inviting Alcona Schools families and community members to take part in the Harrisville Mystery Safe Time Capsule Project, a unique opportunity to create a community legacy that will span generations. Inspired by the excitement surrounding the recent discovery of a century-old safe buried beneath the streets of Harrisville, this new project looks toward the future by creating a time capsule that will be opened 50 years from now. Our 6th grade students will lead the project, reflecting on their lives, school, and community and sharing what they want future generations to know about Alcona County today. Join us this Sunday, September 20, at 2:30pm at the Harrisville Harbor for the opening of the original Mystery Safe! Bring a chair and join community members as we discover what has been hidden for nearly 100 years. 6th graders are especially encouraged to attend, as this event will help kick off their time capsule project and connect the mystery of the past with a legacy for the future! Reminder, join us for the 2026 Hometown Heroes today, Friday, September 18th at the ACS Football Stadium as we proudly celebrate our community’s Veterans, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and EMS/EMT personnel. The evening will begin with registration and check-in at 3:30pm, followed by a special tribute and ceremony at 4:00pm honoring those who serve and protect our community. The celebration continues into the night as we cheer on the Tigers with a 7:00pm football kickoff against Hillman. Heroes that were not able to pre-register can register today at the event.
