Hey Alcona Parents (of Seniors), The yearbook is doing our senior everyday collection of your favorite school, class, team memories from when they were young! We have been seeing a bunch of parents posting some great memories, we want to capture them in our graduation slideshow. Please send us your favorite memories of the kids who are now graduating soon. You can go to the link below and load them right into a designated yearbook folder. Thanks for sharing your photos with us! https://plicbooks.com/go/5CH9B9

February Food Corps Update: Both 4th grade classes made homemade butter in a mason jar! Through this activity they were able to construct flavor profiles for their butter; such as Garlic Parmesan, Garden Herb, Cinnamon Sugar, or Salt and Pepper. The students enjoyed the homemade butter on Fresh French bread! Additionally, the Food Corps Lesson during February was about producers and decomposers. Students were able to identify the producers, consumers, and decomposers in a Supreme Pizza Recipe. Students made homemade pizza bagels to conclude the lesson! #alconaschools #foodcorps

Parents of 9th-11th graders. All students (unless they were absent today) have completed their schedule requests for next year by the end of the day today. These should come home to be discussed. Any changes to requests can be made right on the copy of the request sheet and returned to Mrs. VK after spring break. Students taking a college class will have additional paperwork to fill out. Juniors will have this. Sophomores will receive it after Break. These need to be returned as soon as possible.

🎓ACS Early College Spotlight: Only 25 days left for our current 10th graders to apply for Early College! Today’s highlight is ACC’s Van Lare Hall, which underwent an $8.7 million renovation in 2022. ACC’s admissions, nursing program, student success/tutoring center, and more is housed at Van Lare Hall. When 9th graders tour ACC annually they are able to tour the nursing program where they can test their skills in the nursing lab by listening to the lungs and checking the heart rate on a simulation mannequin. Current ACS 10th graders can apply to EC by April 8th at: bit.ly/ACS-EC-App #alconaschools #earlycollege #applytoday

OK2SAY is a student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment. We are excited to share that our school will be hosting presentations on OK2SAY. Parents/guardians were emailed additional information. Please feel free to contact the elementary or middle/high school office for questions. #alconaschools #ok2say
