Alcona now has 20 sets of skis for this crazy group of kids to enjoy on our school trail this winter. A huge thank you to the Alcona Schools Property Team for helping to fund new equipment. Bring on the snow!
Due a generous grant through Catholic Human Services, Michigan Youth Alive will be at Alcona MS/HS on Wednesday, December 7. They will present to 6th-8th grade students at 9:30 and to 9th-12th grade students at 12:30pm. The presentation will focus on kindness, resilience, and making good choices. Ms. Luce's anatomy/physiology classdisected sheep brains recently. Students were tasked with labeling structures of the brain, functions, and draw comparisions between sheep and human brains. Students loved learning about neurobiology!

Congratulations to our December Tiger of the Month, Mr. Jesse Smith, and to all the team members nominated! Tiger of the Month nominations are made by peers and serve as a way to recognize a team member that goes above and beyond. One winner is randomly selected each month from the nominations. Today 11th and 12th grade students toured Kalitta Air to learn more about their A&P Apprenticeship Program, diverse career opportunities within the aviation mechanics field, essential skills needed for a career at Kalitta, and see how high school and college coursework relates to Kalitta with real world applications. A representative from the Kalitta Air Apprenticeship Program, an Alpena Community College English professor, and our ACS Career Navigator guided students through the tour and connected career opportunities and job skills to what students are learning while in high school. This opportunity was provided in partnership with Kalitta Air, ACC, and the Marshall Plan for Talent Grant. #AlconaSchools #TigerPride

Congratulations to the Knowledge Bowl Team for competing against Rogers City High School today. Members did fantastic and won with a score of 130 points over 50.
