English in the Real World students got a quick lesson on sewing from Nurse Carter today! They are researching and planning their road trips while also preparing for small disasters along the way. They also learned the basics of CPR and first aid.

Creative Writing students met with Mrs. Dellar's kindergarten class to begin this year's Children's Book Project. They read books, wrote together, and even had a chance to play. Lots of smiles!

Don't forget to stop by the library today and learn more about being a substitute at ACS!

The Alcona MS Kart Crashers have opened their season with a match against Pierce MK Varsity in the first Middle School state league. Alcona middle schoolers will be competing this season in Mario Kart 8 and look forward to growing the Alcona E-Sports program, practicing new maps and hopefully growing to include other titles. Though the enrollment period is closed for competitive play this fall, we are always accepting practice squad members for the high school and middle school teams. We are practicing on Wednesdays and Thursdays with games on each Wednesday afternoon throughout the first semester. For more information about Alcona E-sports, please contact Coach Stevens, Coach Thomas, or Coach Brunger.

Stop by the Alcona County Library tomorrow, October 1st to learn more about substitute opportunities at ACS!

Are you trying to find funding for a great idea? Do you need money for your organization, community initiative, or group? If so, consider applying for a 2024 YAC grant. Alcona's Youth Advisory Council awards up to $2,500 in grants to applicants who are in need in Alcona County. The deadline is October 15th. See more information about how to apply HERE: https://www.cfnem.org/grants/yac-grant-guidelines.html
Reminder about drop-off and pick-up for middle and high school students. Please do not drop your student off earlier outside, especially as the weather gets cold. And please do not drop students off at the middle school, that causes a safety concern as that is where our school busses drop off. Thank you!

Darren Boyat ran at the Leroy Maxie Invitational today. He ran 3 miles with a time of 19:27. Great job Darren! Our next meet is October 1st at Charlton Heston.
