Today, both of Ms. Luce's anatomy and physiology classes ventured off to the Oscoda ACC campus to explore career options within the medical field. Students got to participate in a campus tour, experience a high-fidelity simulation demonstration, got to test their anatomy knowledge on the Anatomage table, join a college-level class, and listen to a presentation regarding healthcare opportunities. Thanks, ACC, for hosting our visit. We learned a lot!

One of the school vehicles transporting students and staff was involved in an accident returning from the FFA National Convention yesterday afternoon. All riding in the vehicle were okay and were very fortunate, only to suffer minor injuries. Some were taken to the hospital for monitoring. Everyone was back on their way home just after 11 p.m. We were fortunate to have staff in the area, and they were able to assist and help with the transportation of the students' home.
We are very thankful that nobody was seriously hurt. Please try to respect the privacy of the students and staff involved, as they had a very, very scary, long, emotional, and stressful day.

Jesse Smith helped Mrs. Hechlik's English in the Real World students learn how to change a tire this week. They added his expertise to their knowledge for their road trip project. Thanks, Mr. Smith!

Mrs. Hechlik's Creative Writing Class held a launch party this week to begin their novels for NaNoWriMo (National November is Writing Month). Students will be tasked with writing a novel in November. The ultimate goal is to write 50,000 words. To kick it off, they went wild with a charcuterie board, root beer floats, and crazy pictures.

The NHS Blood Drive committee hosted its first blood drive on Tuesday this week! They registered 31 donors, all of whom were first-time with Versiti, and they collected 26 units. Those 31 donations will help impact up to 93 patient lives in the next 5 weeks. Great job to Sage Gauthier, Emma Travis, Emma Schroeder, Lillian Pappas, and Nyhia Jackson for leading this project!
