Today our 5th year Early College students met for a breakfast and scholarship workshop! Thank you to Mr. Thomas for helping our students practice their culinary skills before diving into scholarships with Ms. Cordes. 5th year EC students are Alcona High School students that attend college classes full-time. Students apply for the EC program in 10th grade. The application period will be opening soon! Watch for more information in January.




Alcona Junior Honor Society members hosted an Ugly Sweater Contest for middle/high school staff this week! Members voted at their holiday party and the winners were Mr. Terpstra (1st place with his moose sweater), Ms. Boboltz (2nd place with her ice skating polar bear), and Mr. McClure (3rd place with his Ohio State sweater). The Alcona National Honor Society and a few helpful friends gathered together to fill Christmas food boxes for our community. These amazing kids never stop giving.

The Alcona Tool Cats received a visit from Tony Ommani of ESI Employment Services of Alpena. The students present were Peter Brege, Sam Johnston, and Angelina Howe. They were very excited and thankful for a $500 sponsorship check. Thank you ESI and Tony for supporting our team in the FIRST Robotics 2024 CRESENDO Competition. Season kicks off January 6th and we are ready!


2nd grade students observed that they are not the only ones enhancing their scientific skills. Blaze visited our science room FULL of curiosity about all the living organisms that they get to work with in class.

The Mountain in Black River donated more than $2000 from their buck pole proceeds to help with student supplies and families in need of help for Christmas. Thank you for your support of our students!
