The elementary summer program students spent time learning about the science of cotton candy last week with a visit to the Alpena County Library. We also enjoyed some time at the Splash Pad, and had a very informative shipwreck tour on the glass bottom boat. We're excited to see what our last week brings for fun activities!

Students in the Alcona Middle School summer program enjoyed a trip to Cedar Panning Co. in Alpena last week, where they were able to pan for gems, rocks, and other crystals. This week students learned how to tie dye a T-shirt and they made their own homemade pizza for lunch! #alconaschools #summerprogram

Our elementary summer program participants have had a great first week! The highlight of our week was a trip to Rockport where we collected fossils. Mrs. Schroeder helped us clean and identify them the next day!

Happy National Mechanic Appreciation Day! Today we thank our incredible mechanics for the vital work they do behind the scenes. From keeping our buses running safely to ensuring our students get to school and activities on time, your dedication and skill are truly appreciated. We’re grateful for all you do to keep our district moving! #alconaschools #tigerpride #thankyou

Our middle schoolers are having a great time at the summer fun program! On Tuesday they took a trip to Iargo Springs and Lumberman’s monument to learn about Michigan history and the role that logging played in the development of our early economy. Today they were visited by Mr. Jim Miller, who talked about plant identification and taught students the primitive skill of making natural cordage using native plants. Students created bracelets and necklaces with the cordage they made. Participants also painted rocks to take home and to place around the school campus. Thank you to our team members and community members that are making the summer program possible! #alconaschools

Reminder: Garden Club is tomorrow, Thursday 8-10 am. Meet at community garden in front of elementary school. Bring a water bottle. All ages welcome, families too!

Due to ongoing construction, the Alcona High School main entrance and parking lot are temporarily closed. During this time, the Middle/High School Main Office has been relocated to the Middle School (room 503).
All students, staff, and visitors should use the Middle School entrance and parking lot for access. Signage will be posted to help guide you to the temporary office location.
Once construction in the High School office area is complete, the office will move back to its original location. However, the High School parking lot will remain closed, and all visitors will still need to use the Middle School entrance and parking lot for access until further notice.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our facilities.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the office at 989-736-8534. Thank you!
