Ms. Luce's Environmental Science and Biology classes participated in a Adopt-A-Highway on Wednesday. The students were challenged to to pick up as much trash as they could with the promise of treats for the class with the heaviest trash bags. The classes collected an amazing 73.6 lbs. of trash! Thank you to the students for helping to keep Alcona clean!

Our hard working garden club produced over 20 pounds of lettuce, spinach, radishes, and salad turnips for our school cafeteria. We are learning the value of each seasons crops. Bring on the spinach smoothies! Summer crops are going into hoop house and community garden will be prepped next week.


Michigan Education Corps, an AmeriCorps program, is looking for two reading tutors to work with students at Alcona Elementary in grades Kdg through 3rd for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. Please see attached information.

May is mental health awareness month. Students are invited to wear green on Thursday's to show their support. For National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day Ms. Marsh will have a prize for each 6-12th grade students wearing green tomorrow. #AlconaSchools #TigerPride

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The program teaches how to get started with a business, working with parents and children, and key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips. *This is not a school sponsored program.
